Hi, I’m Jon Bell. I’m a 6’0”, African American male of Jamaican descent. The eldest of six children, I was born and raised in rural Arkansas on the banks of the Mississippi River (folksy right?). I was taught to love God, serve others and never stop learning.
My story is one of defying social archetypes, creating my own identity and discovering how I uniquely add value to the world.
I co-founded a software startup called Rainmaker. Our mission was to help nonprofits raise a lot of money online through multi-channel fundraising automation tools. We helped dozens of charities raise tens of millions of dollars for great causes before deciding to license our technology to another vendor in the space. I’m also founded and managed a small digital design agency called Theory+Practice. We helped small businesses and nonprofits meet and exceed their business objectives through effective design and tech.
Prior to working in the nonprofit and technology sectors, I engineered the political fates of candidates for public office. Today, I'm what I call a "reformed politico."
I enjoy exploring the wonders of the great outdoors and the plethora of activities it offers – climbing, biking, skiing, and kayaking to name a few. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area with my exceptional wife Rachel. We have two precious little boys Bentley and Winston.
